Structure & word count (what to expect)

These settings shape the book more than most people realize.

Structure slider: short chapters vs long chapters

  • Many short chapters Good for “step-by-step” books and narrow topics.

  • Balanced Good default for most books.

  • Few long chapters Good for broad topics and more narrative flow.

Word count is a target, not a guarantee

Youbooks aims for your word count, but AI generation is not perfectly exact.

Billing behavior:

  • If Youbooks over-delivers (more words than target): no extra credits charged.
  • If Youbooks under-delivers (fewer words than target): a pro‑rata amount is refunded.

See: How credits work

Why “extreme structures” don’t work

Youbooks uses a deterministic workflow that has to make reasonable assumptions about structure.

If you ask for combinations like:

  • 10,000 words with 100 chapters, or
  • 200,000 words with 1 chapter,

…there is no single workflow that can satisfy every extreme case.

Repetition (realistic expectations)

Most non-fiction repeats key concepts intentionally.

Youbooks will not guarantee “zero repetition.” Non-fiction books have a certain level oif repetition and we aim to deliver around that.

If repetition is a problem:

  • ask for less repetition in your prompt
  • increase Editing Level,
  • use Post‑editing to remove redundancy,
  • or do a targeted manual editing pass after export, using tools like Claude Code.
